Interested in Becoming a Coach?
The Wisconsin Rapids Kickers believe that every great player starts with a great mentor. You don’t need to be a professional athlete or a tactical expert to make a difference; you just need a passion for helping kids grow and a desire to give back to our community. By becoming a youth soccer coach, you play a vital role in teaching teamwork, sportsmanship, and the fundamentals of the game in a fun, supportive environment.
We are committed to supporting our coaches every step of the way. Whether you are a parent looking to get involved with your child’s team or a soccer enthusiast wanting to share your knowledge, we provide the resources and training necessary to succeed. From structured practice plans to coaching clinics, the Kickers organization ensures you have the tools to feel confident on the sidelines and create a positive experience for your players.
The rewards of coaching extend far beyond the final score on the scoreboard. There is nothing quite like the pride of watching a player master a new skill or seeing a group of kids transform into a cohesive team. By volunteering your time, you are investing in the youth of Wisconsin Rapids and building memories that last a lifetime. Join us this season and help inspire the next generation of Kickers!

Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need prior soccer experience? Not at all! While soccer knowledge is helpful, our primary goal is to find mentors who are encouraging and organized. We provide all the curriculum and drills you need to lead a successful practice.
- What is the time commitment? Typically, coaches commit to at least two practices a week (usually 60-90 minutes depending on age group), several weekend tournaments in the fall and spring and one to two games per week during the spring/summer league season.
- Can I request to coach my child’s team? Absolutely. Most of our coaches are parents, and we do our best to ensure you are paired with your child’s specific age group and team.
- What if I’ve never coached before? You’re in good company! Many of our best coaches started as beginners. We offer Coaching Clinics and digital resources to help you get started.
- Do I get paid? Yes. Coaches pay varies depending on several factors. Those factors include if you have a child on the team. The club also reimburses for certain expenses if you do not have any children on the team or part of the club. More information is available in the WR Kickers By-Laws and Club Policy Manual.
